Periodic Content Reviews
As we know, the security threat landscape is ever changing, and if we want our security training to be effective, we must ensure that our training and awareness materials are updated and relevant. Pertinent security aspects that should be included in the material and checked for currency include the following:
- Applicable laws (particularly those involving data breach notification, intellectual property, and Pll)
- Security tools
- Organizational security policy
- Recent widespread attack styles and methodology
The challenge is to keep materials engaging, useful and up to date. It is advised to consult with subject matter experts who'll regularly review instructional material for currency and accuracy. It is also useful to have external experts perform a review of the material to acquire as wide a perspective as possible.
